CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
Aboriginal
Housing Management Association (AHMA) was formed in 1995 with a vision to build
a sustainable housing sector under one authority to provide the best response
to the Aboriginal housing needs in the Province of BC. Today, AHMA is a
self-management housing organization that serves urban and rural Aboriginal Peoples
and oversees the management of subsidized housing for Aboriginal housing
providers, showing continual commitment to the self-determination, management
and delivery of quality affordable housing.
A landmark agreement was recently finalized with the B.C. government to transfer
the administration of all Aboriginal social housing (including Aboriginal
housing units, emergency shelters, and the Aboriginal Homeless Outreach
Program) to AHMA. With the government’s provision of over $30M
annually and a strong reputation and track record, AHMA is currently
restructuring to meet the operational needs and oversight for the new programs
and services and 2,200 additional units.
The organization will continue to focus on delivering a high level of
service standards and operational oversight.
The Role:
Reporting to the
Board of Directors, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will thrive in leading
change and overseeing the strategic transformation and the operational
administration of AHMA including agreement implementation, policy development,
financial reporting, and human resource management. The CEO will implement the organization’s
mission and vision and be responsible for the overall integrity and enhancement
of its services, programs and reputation.
She/he will provide leadership, motivation and innovation in achieving
excellence in housing solutions by Aboriginal for Aboriginals.
Highly respected with the knowledge, passion and an ability to implement
and deliver culturally appropriate and sustainable housing, the CEO will be an expert
at bringing together and liaising, influencing and collaborating with a wide
range of stakeholders including but not limited to: housing providers, boards
of directors, different levels of governments, community leaders, academic
institutions, and the private sector.
Working collaboratively with member societies and partnering
organizations, the CEO will assist in enhancing key determinants of health to
change the lives of Aboriginal people and set them on a path of
self-determination. The successful
candidate will possess a post-secondary education (preferably Masters degree)
in business, finance, public administration, or a relevant field combined with
a minimum of 5 years relevant experience in a senior leadership role or an
equivalent combination of education and experience.
