Career Opportunity: Aboriginal Financial Officers Association of Canada – Director - Education and Training

The Aboriginal Financial Officers Association of Canada (AFOA) is the national centre for excellence and innovation in Aboriginal finance and management. Established in 1999, the Association is the only organization in Canada that focuses on the capacity development and day to day needs of Aboriginal professionals working in all areas of finance and management - today's leaders and those of the future. 

AFOA is accomplishing its mission through the establishment of a suite of education and certification programs. In particular, AFOA has the Aboriginal Financial Management (AFM) educational program and the Certified Aboriginal Financial Manager (CAFM) designation.AFOA is also focusing on the training and development needs of senior executives within Aboriginal organizations. AFOA is in Phase III of the Certified Aboriginal Professional Administrator (CAPA) program which will be an integral component of AFOA's educational and certification offerings. Further educational and certification programs will depend upon identified needs in the Aboriginal communities. 

AFOA is looking for an energetic candidate to provide senior management leadership, direction and guidance in the areas of training and development of AFOA's full educational program including the CAFM program and the AFM courses that comprise it; the newly developed CAPA program; and workshops that support the CAFM and CAPA programs. 

THE CANDIDATE: 

Reporting to the President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Director - Education and Training will be a dynamic leader and key member of the senior management team with a proven track record of success working with a variety of stakeholders. The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall integrity, enhancement, and maintenance of the AFOA's AFM, CAFM and CAPA programs.
