Career Opportunity: Faculty Position – Department of Inter-Disciplinary Programs


Under new and dynamic leadership, with a focused and forward-thinking mandate, First Nations University of Canada is inviting exceptional scholars to apply for a new and exciting permanent-track position for the Department of Inter-disciplinary Programs at the Assistant/Associate Professor level. This role will appeal to those who have a strong commitment to teaching in intimate and interactive class settings while engaging in research and publishing.

With approximately 1,200 students and over 45 full-time faculty at three campuses, First Nations University provides an opportunity for students of all nations to learn in an environment of First Nations cultures and values. Nationally recognized for acquiring grants, First Nations University is a partner, along with the University of Regina and the University of Saskatchewan, in the Indigenous Peoples’ Health Research Centre. First Nations University is also home to the Indigenous Community-based Health Research Labs, funded by Canada Foundation for Innovation. This ground-breaking new facility provides unique research and training opportunities focusing explicitly on Indigenous community-based health research that offers the successful candidate an opportunity to advance their passion in the area of Indigenous health research.

The successful candidate will teach a variety of introductory, senior undergraduate and graduate courses in Indigenous Health Studies. She/he will engage in an active community-based research program and supervise graduate students.

With a strong understanding of colonization and its direct link to contemporary Indigenous health issues such as population health concepts; holistic health concepts; and community based health and wellness, you will have a PhD in a related area and be able to provide a clear demonstration of teaching excellence and scholarly activity.
