Medical Director

British Columbia First Nations, the Province of British Columbia (BC), and the Government of Canada have forged a new relationship and a series of precedent-setting agreements leading to the creation of a new, first of its kind, Health Authority. The First Nations Health Authority (FNHA) has now taken over the administration of federal health programs and services previously delivered by Health Canada’s First Nations Inuit Health Branch – Pacific Region. They are working with the Province and First Nations across BC to address service gaps through new partnerships, closer collaboration, and health systems innovation.

Setting a unique and historical model for positive change, the FNHA’s mission is to support BC First Nations individuals, families and communities to achieve and enjoy the highest level of health and wellness by: working with them on their health and wellness journeys; honouring traditions and cultures; and championing First Nations health and wellness within the FNHA organization and with all of the FNHA’s partners.

The Role

Championing FNHA’s health and wellness philosophy, including traditional medicine practices, you will assist with establishing the FNHA as a health and wellness partner with BC First Nations peoples and communities. By promoting innovative initiatives for integrated, multi-disciplinary primary care and mental health teams, you will support the improvement of access to and the quality of healthcare services, medical practices and clinical care delivered to First Nations peoples and communities.

The Medical Director will contribute to a legacy of a shared vision of a healthy, self-determining and vibrant BC First Nation children, families and communities.  Located in West Vancouver, this unique position offers you an opportunity to be part of a transformative Indigenous model of health where traditional First Nations teachings and western ideals will merge to create a better shared future and collective success.
