Director / Executive Lead, Human Rights Plan
The Ontario
Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services is responsible for law
enforcement services including the Ontario Provincial Police, correctional
centres, detention centres, parole boards, public safety, and disaster
management.
In 2011, the
Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services began a unique
partnership within the Ontario Public Service called the Human Rights Project
Charter. This partnership among the ministry, the Ontario Human Rights
Commission, and the Ministry of Government and Consumer Services, was designed
to identify and address human rights related issues for the ministry’s diverse
employees and client communities, with a special focus on the unique needs and
concerns of Aboriginal peoples.
The Director,
Human Rights Plan will have the opportunity to bring their strategic leadership
and passion for public service. As part of the executive team, the Director
will lead an internal team working with internal and external stakeholders to
implement the Human Rights Plan (HRP).
Individuals
interested in the role should showcase strong executive leadership as a
transformational and innovative thinker responding to changing demands and
identifying opportunities for the long term.
The Director,
HRP will have excellent political acuity and experience with government
decision-making process. They will have flexibility and resilience to adapt in
a changing environment and have experience identifying and acting on
opportunities to transform the organization.
A knowledge
of policy development and implementing Ministry wide plans on the
interpretation and application of related ministry legislation, policies,
procedures, and standards as they relate to the HRP will be an asset.
